I look like a gumby and I act like one too.
Sunday, its been raining a bit, though its not super dooper cold. Spring is near, as is my birthday. 1st of September is the date and I am having a fancy dress costume party on the 10th to celebrate, so I' m looking forward to that. The theme is the letters M and B (sheesh I sound like a sesame street host), so people can dress up as anything starting with those letters. Phil, Jess, Katie, Dave, all of ya are welcome, (but I can understand if you can't make it)
Ok I need to hop to it and tidy up the garden, it looks like a rabid jungle of weeds, and sort out all my paper work, my house looks like a bachelor pad at the moment, clothes everywhere, I am a habitually messy girl, but when I clean up, gee I clean up real good, make the place look smicko.
Out to space everyone.

sorry, its been a while. Well have managed to jog, friday, saturday, monday and tonight once I finish this post. Skipped sunday, due to the fact I had a huge night on the amber sauce, whilst down at the rugby, watching the Australian Wallabies play the South African Springboks, it was an excellent game, unfortunately Australia lost by a measley 3 points. I recommend it for anyone, the players are honest sportsman, they don't argue with the ref and play fair at all times. Ok I had better get moving, so I can get my run in before it gets too dark.

So far, I've only jogged on tuesday and today. Tuesday I nearly got drowned by a fast moving storm, by the time I got inside I was soaked, my muscles killing me from running hard due to fear of being struck by lightning and being swept away by the wind and rain. Cause I was so far from home I had to run fast to get out of the weather, normally I walk a leg home, my lungs were killing, muscles aching, face was water pelted, gee I don't think I want to go through that again.
Weeks been plodding along ok. Bob hid my marshmallows in the freezer and since I am so hungry and feeling tired, I needed a quick snack, so I gobbled on a couple of frozen marshmallows and they are quite tasty frozen.

Big weekend, had a quiz night on Saturday, which I wasn't real keen on, was asked to scribe and I ended up answering most of the questions. The club was auctioning a few things off, hats, chairs etc, I bought half a six pack of beer together with one of my boyfriends mates, polished that off along with a fair bit of other beer. All round it was actually quite a good night.
Watched Bad Santa on dvd, that was pretty funny, I recommend it, only if your not easily offended.
So lots of late nights and then got to work late and was seedy and tired and forgot all about the open day, where I had to take a group of school students around the ****** ______ labs. I've left out words here for a reason. All round though they were quite sensible, a bit loud but took instructions and this made things smooth all round. I put it down to fact, that they are year 11 TEE students with one year before TEE exams, usually these kids are alot more serious and come along to these open days because they are genuinely interested. I actually found the chemists talks quite interesting, they had some cool dna tests and all sorts of stuff.
Till we meet again.

So far this week I have jogged for 20 minutes every day except Wednesday, so sunday, monday, tuesday and thursday. Which is a massive improvement on the last 2 months of slackness. Am also doing some light weights after the jog. I even went out and bought a skipping rope, so if its too wet to run, I have no excuse to slack off, the skipping rope is there to keep up my exercise. Work is trundling on pretty good.
Space must be a giant ocean we havn't sailed, large and frought with mystery, begging us to explore it.
The third Ashes test begins today.
I am saving up to buy the 'Firefly' series on dvd, so I can share it out to my friends, I don't watch t.v. except for the cricket and I really don't like serial programs. Firefly is actually quite a good watch, it isn't much like a serial show, its quite like a broken movie and it doesn't have over exaggerated dramatic scenes. Quite original, I must say.

Australia narrowly loses the 2nd Ashes test by 2 runs. Oh gee, last friday was an embarassing day, I took the day off to go to uni so I could speak to my unit coordinator and ask for a semester deferral. Then I visited my cousin who works and studies at this uni aswell, finally I trundle off to catch the bus and unbeknownst to me there is a camera crew and police officers and they are filming us getting onto the bus and sitting on the bus as we travel along. Firstly I hid behind a student mag (funnily enough it had a picture of a chicken holding two machine guns) then as I dropped my arm to get on the bus, they filmed me getting on and punching my card for the journey. Bastards, two days later I am on the ABC news doing the aforementioned thing. This news article was aired as its to do with cracking down on public transport bashings and terrorism etc, and here I am with a student mag with a cover page of a chicken holding machine guns. Bastards. I called mum and dad and they thought it was quite funny.
Out to space.

This is an interesting piece of cricket equipment, one of my math lecturers didn't make it into the team that produced the snickometer, but briefly described it as alot of trigonometry on its side. She did however make it into the team which produced the ball tracing, a red line which could estimate the balls journey and determine, as it leaves the bowlers hand, past the batsman and through to the hands of the keeper, if it was going to hit the wickets and there fore be given out lbw. This tracer came about only due to Shane Warne's unique leg spin bowling technique which has collected many wickets over the years. I find this to be an interesting achievement, also the fact I had no idea math had so many different applications.

It's often one of the most difficult tasks for an umpire: discerning whether a ball has clipped the bat or part of the player's protective equipment or clothing on its way to the wicketkeeper. The Snickometer, although not used in adjudicating decisions, is a useful TV tool which tracks the ball's passage past the batsman by picking up sounds from pitch and stump microphones. The usual rule of thumb is that no sound (top picture) means that the ball has failed to touch the bat, while a 'short' noise (bottom picture) probably means the ball has hit the bat.
No noise
No contact made here ..... and no problem for the umpire with this 'not out' decision.
Busy week, I finally feel as though things are coming together better in my stores job. Have a day off tomorrow and will be going into uni to find out my options for the new semester. Life is just plodding along these days, so not much to tell.
Out to space everyone.
