Michelle's Things

Hello everyone. Life as usual, working and catching up with Linda. Unfortunately my exercise has hit a brick wall, because I have been spending every spare moment I have, catching up with Linda. Its good that Australia is the nearest neighbouring country of asia, because we get such a huge offering of various asian restaurants. Since Linda's been in London, she's been telling me there is stuff all multicultural food, as a matter of fact the closest thing to spicy or asian, was a crappy fast food joint called curry in a hurry. So all week she has been gutsing out on asian, yesterday I got roped into leaving work early and we went to a Japanese restaurant. Its funny, you think living in Australia, that you have little taste of the world, it turns out that because we have heaps of asian and european and middle eastern occupants we actually have more variety in one place, than the world put together. I thought it was normal to have a shit load of multicultural restaurants, I love it, I go to dimsum most sundays and eat quite a bit of Japanese, I have two favourite Italian restaurants, and go to a regular jaunt called wong hawkers on saturdays which cooks alot of singaporean, malaysian culinary. I even love eating fried squid tentacles, I could go on for a long time. The city of Perth itself actually has the largest ratio of restaurants, per capita than the rest of Australia and the country has a ratio of 1 pub to every two people, makes no sense, the pubs always packed when I go.
I just find it funny, I always thought that europe had everything, and my friend has come back giving me a list of things I have to mail to her so she has something yummy to eat. Apparently we have heaps of different chocolate varieties and heaps more different lolly varieties. It makes me laugh, lesson to be learned 'assumption is the mother of all f**k ups', what I also don't understand, is England loves to heap shit on Australia, yet they migrate here in the droves, love the weather and now their bloody t.v. programs are invading our free to air t.v., I can not believe it, its really starting to get under my skin.
When I worked on the mines, there was alot of british expats and all they could do was whinge about Australia and yet they didn't want to live anywhere else. WTF!
Alright, I had better get this place ship shape, as its a dump and the bbq is tomorrow. eeeeeeek.
Okay, maybe some of us are messy, but theres no need to bag us out, the reason we are messy is because we're busy running around eating and enjoying the weather, not sitting around whinging about it.
in memory of those who died or fought in a war.

Phil, I don't know wether I have had Philipine food. I hope I didn't spell that wrong, let me know if I did. The majority of food is asian, for obvious reasons and its yummo, big time.

I'm pretty sure it's spelled "Philippine" but really who cares about an extra 'p'?

And hey are those places fairly inexpensive? Because if we ate out every night in Canada we would 1) be monstrously obese from all the fat in our foods and 2) We would be BROKE!

Either way, as long as you enjoy it go for it! ;)

Hello there Katie, yes the food is actually quite cheap and healthy. We have heaps of food regulations here, maccas and kfc all serve salad rolls and healthy stuff and because we are a huge agriculture producing country, the abundance of food allows for cheaper eating.
There is one particular university here which has quite a few asian restaurants and because students are the most common patrons, the food is quite cheap. Which is good all round for everyone.
